THRIVING COMMUNITIES LAB

The Thriving Communities Lab is a partnership between Faaborg-Midtfyn Municipality, the Centre for Childhood Health, and several research institutions, including the Copenhagen Health Complexity Center. The project aims to enhance children’s mental well-being through the application of a data-driven systems approach. Recognising the limitations of previous interventions, the initiative combines data analysis and stakeholder involvement to map system dynamics and to identify leverage points for possible change. Local data is integrated with national and international evidence to inform actions, which are continuously refined through learning. Systems-mapping workshops enhance understanding and help to mobilise action, with the potential exploration of simulation models to support decision-making. Current efforts focus on ecosystem mapping, understanding mental well-being, and identifying target groups to develop a preliminary change strategy. This initiative seeks to improve children’s health outcomes while strengthening municipal capacity to address complex challenges as well as advancing broader perspectives on mental well-being.
